Masterclasses at the School of Fine Arts of Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City

One of the fundamental pillars in the training of professional musicians is direct contact with artists of international trajectory and prestige. Beyond the classroom and daily practice, listening to, observing, and dialoguing with those who have built solid careers on the world's most important stages represents an irreplaceable formative experience.

With this conviction, the School of Fine Arts (EBA) of Universidad Panamericana has made masterclasses an essential component of its academic project since its foundation in 2016. Throughout these years, the School has offered more than 100 masterclasses and specialized courses, taught by top-level musicians who have shared their experience, artistic vision, and knowledge with the university community.

Among the invited artists, internationally recognized figures stand out, such as Paquito D’Rivera, the Cuban saxophone and clarinet virtuoso and an indisputable reference in Latin jazz for his ability to fuse jazz, classical music, and Afro-Cuban rhythms; Antonio Sánchez, a world-class Mexican drummer known for his virtuosity, his collaboration with Pat Metheny, and the innovative soundtrack for Birdman ; and Jacob Collier, the British musician, composer, and producer, multi-instrumentalist, and one of the most creative minds in contemporary music thanks to his harmonic exploration and experimental approach to jazz and pop.

The field of classical music and opera has also had a prominent presence. Artists such as Augustin Hadelich, Grammy-winning violinist and a regular at the world's leading concert halls and orchestras; Elīna Garanča, the Latvian mezzo-soprano renowned for her vocal elegance and great interpretations in the operatic repertoire; and Nadine Sierra, the internationally famous American soprano, have shared their artistic and technical experience with the School's students.

Each of these masterclasses has left a deep mark on the students who have had the opportunity to play or sing before these great musicians. But their impact goes beyond the performers directly involved: all attendees, even those from other areas of study, find in these sessions an opportunity to broaden their technical, musical, and expressive perspectives, enriching their own artistic path.

In short, the masterclasses at the School of Fine Arts of Universidad Panamericana are a space for encounter, inspiration, and living learning, where music is transmitted from musician to musician, from experience to experience.

We invite you to follow the School of Fine Arts’ social media closely, where the many masterclasses and activities offered each semester are announced.
